Bamboo Gift Ideas: Gifting Lucky Bamboo Plant Basics
[wp-review id=”1875″]
Lucky bamboo is one of Fen Shui’s most recognizable and favored gifts. It’s because of its ability to balance the five fundamental elements of water, wood, earth, fire, and metal. Its popularity is also due to the fact that little care is required and that it can thrive in any kind of sun.
The Feng Shui principles say that bamboo attracts the auspicious energy of chi. Since the bamboo plant is powerful, it can energize your home and bring it into harmony. When taking a bamboo plant to your home, make sure to choose the correct number of stalks as each number represents different kinds of energy.
Usually, the more stalks in the planter, the greater the blessing of good fortune and good luck. You must never put a lucky bamboo plant in your bedroom as it produces too much Yang energy, resulting in an inauspicious impact. The best places for lucky bamboo are in the east or south of your home or office.
More Information

Bamboo Gift Ideas: Care For Lucky Bamboo Plants
Lucky bamboo is a relatively easy plant to look after and grow in a light-filled home. It’s better to grow in bright light. While it can handle lower levels of light, it won’t expand very much without a lot of bright light. Rotate the plant so much that the light hits the whole plant uniformly.
Most of the lucky bamboo arrangements feature bamboo stalks rising in a decorative pot of water or planted in pebbles. Make sure the roots are still fully protected by the water. Add a little water as needed; depending on the weather, it can be between two and seven days. Change the water fully every two or three months or more often if you notice the water gives off a bad smell. Tap water is good to use unless your tap water is rough. If this is the case, use distilled or filtered water.
Lucky bamboo arrangements in a low dish or bowl should provide at least one inch of space between the stalks and the vessel’s edge. This space helps the roots to expand and sustain the plant. If your stalks are growing in a large glass vase, make sure that the vessel is proportionate to the bamboo’s height and can accommodate the stalks. The water level should be enough to completely submerge the roots but not to rise above the stalks.
More Information
If your plant has outgrown a vessel, it’s pretty easy to transplant lucky bamboo. Start with a clean container slightly larger than the current one. If your bamboo grows in a pot of water, simply remove the stalks from the water, put them in a larger container, and refill the water to the same level. If a lucky bamboo grows in a pot of pebbles, gently dig a lucky bamboo. Clean the pebbles with water before putting them in a new tab. Carefully add the bamboo plant and take care to nest the roots within the pebbles. You may need to add more pebbles to cover the roots and to protect the plant.
Final Words
When their birthday arrives, forget about the same old gift cards. Just take a pick from these clean, green bamboo gift items that will certainly make them hug you instead of a tree. Who knows, maybe you’re going to catch the eco bug and transform into a green warrior too!
